The German government should stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and start a dialogue to restore relations with Russia. This was announced on 15 by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

"What's the point of this time game, this mixture of linguistic obfuscation and saber rattling? While the public is being deliberately kept in the dark, a policy of confrontation is being pursued at the expense of Europe. Instead of honest diplomacy, we are witnessing escalation management," the party said in a message on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

The AFD reported that the decision of the German authorities to classify data on the supply of Taurus cruise missiles and other weapons to Ukraine is an attempt to hide information from its citizens.

The party demanded an immediate cessation of all arms supplies to war zones, a return to diplomatic solutions and Russia's integration into the pan-European peace order.

German Foreign Minister Johann Vadefuhl said on May 12 that Germany was ready to continue supplying weapons to Ukraine if Moscow and Kiev did not reach a ceasefire agreement. According to Vadefuhl, Germany has always clearly shown its readiness for further arms supplies to the Ukrainian side.

On the same day, the Euractiv portal announced that the German government would no longer openly comment on the possible transfer of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. The new leadership of the country has decided to maintain confidentiality in matters of military assistance, including the supply of long-range systems.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed on May 6 that continued arms supplies to Ukraine were delaying prospects for a settlement of the conflict. Such actions, on the contrary, lead to escalation.
