The United States will continue to support Taiwan and has the opportunity to strengthen assistance in various areas. This was announced on May 15 by Chris Pratt, the candidate for the post of Assistant Secretary of State for Military and Political Affairs of the United States, whose candidacy was put forward by the American leader Donald Trump.

"If my candidacy is confirmed, I will conduct a comprehensive review of how else we can help Taiwan and increase our support," he said at a hearing on his candidacy before the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, a recording of which is posted on the website of the Senate body.

According to Pratt, Taiwan allegedly faces threats from China, while being the most important partner of the United States in the region.

Earlier, on April 3, the Ministry of Defense of Taiwan announced the strengthening of cooperation with the United States. The ministry clarified that, "faced with a variety of threats and the rapid development of the Armed Forces of the People's Republic of China," they continue to work with allies and partners to strengthen defense capabilities and "maintain peace and stability in the region."
