- The head of the ROSSETI Group discussed with the Governor of the Murmansk Region the development of the region's energy system

Andrey Chibis, Governor of the Murmansk Region, and Andrey Ryumin, CEO of Rosseti, discussed the development of the Kola Arctic energy system and the supply of electricity to promising Arctic projects, the company's press service reported. The parties also discussed other issues, including the elaboration of a regulatory agreement and the possible consolidation of network assets.
"The Murmansk Region is the gateway to the Arctic, a strategically important region where large—scale tasks are being solved. The ROSSETI Group is contributing to this work, providing electricity to enterprises under construction, and participating in the implementation of the "Live in the North!" plan, which is synchronized with national projects. This year, we will allocate more than 7.5 billion rubles for the modernization and development of the Murmansk Region's power grids," Ryumin said.
As the head of Rosseti noted, many tasks in the region are related to the development of transport and tourism infrastructure. For example, a subsidiary of ROSSETI North-West is currently building an electric boiler for the new terminal at Murmansk Airport. Another priority is the provision of capacity for the expansion of railway approaches to the port of Lavna. In addition, in 2026, the company will build a 35 kV power transmission line and substation to supply electricity to the Valla Tunturi tourism cluster.
According to Chibis, "The Murmansk region is actively developing." "Over the past six years, 1.5 trillion rubles of investments have been invested. And this is not the limit — there are about 300 more projects in the portfolio. We understand perfectly well that each of them needs modern infrastructure, reliable and powerful energy sources," the governor emphasized. According to him, ROSSETI plans to increase investments in the Murmansk region. "The agreements we have reached today create a solid foundation for continuing to develop both major projects and a comfortable life in Arctic cities," he added.
Among the promising tasks of the backbone complex are the completion of the reconstruction of the backbone transit of the Kola energy system — the 330 kV Monchegorsk — Olenegorsk — Sevodny transmission line, and the construction of the 330 kV Arctic substation, which will become one of the largest power centers in the Northwest.
