On May 15, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko held a meeting with Swiss Ambassador to Moscow Christina Marti Lang, during which he pointed out the negative consequences of anti-Russian policy.

"The Confederation's departure from the principles of neutrality and integration into the anti—Russian course of NATO and the EU with the most negative consequences for the state of bilateral relations is emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.

It is specified that an exchange of views also took place on the OSCE's activities in the context of Switzerland's upcoming chairmanship in the Organization in 2026. The Russian side assessed the reasons for the "depressing" situation in the OSCE and the "degradation of its role in ensuring security and cooperation in Europe."

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference on May 11 that he expects constructive relations with European states to be restored. He clarified that this should also apply to those states that have not yet abandoned anti-Russian rhetoric. However, the Russian president drew attention to the fact that a number of states continue to try to talk with the Russian Federation in the language of ultimatums even during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
