Moscow has not received any proposals on the resumption of the work of the Russia—NATO council, which the United States allegedly included in its draft agreement on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on May 15 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We need to understand what we are talking about first. I have not seen any official statements, no specific proposals," RIA Novosti quoted the diplomat as saying on the sidelines of an event in the State Duma.

Bloomberg, citing its source, reported earlier that day that the United States had supplemented its proposal for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine with the idea of resuming the work of the Russia—NATO Council.

The Council effectively ceased its work in January 2022, having held its last meeting. The main task of this structure was cooperation in the field of military-political interaction between Russia and the alliance.

Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Problems at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told Izvestia on January 13 that back in 2014, the members of the North Atlantic Alliance unilaterally terminated cooperation within the framework of the NRC. NATO itself has abandoned normal contacts and mechanisms of dialogue with the Russian Federation.
