The Federal Service for Alcohol and Tobacco Market Control (Rosalokoltabakkontrol) has begun developing measures to limit the sale of moonshine distillers. This was announced on May 15 by Deputy Head of the department Yuri Vasilchenko during the All-Russian Forum of Civil Society institutions in the field of alcohol policy.

"The service is also involved in the development of proposals to regulate the turnover of moonshine distillers, including limiting the retail sale of moonshine distillers and banning distance trading," Vasilchenko said, as quoted by TASS.

According to the deputy head of Rosalokoltakcontrol, work on the project is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.

Yesterday, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that alcohol-related deaths had decreased by 42% in regions that had imposed restrictions on its sale. The number of registered crimes decreased by 50%, he added.
