At the moment, there are no special criteria in Russia on the basis of which it would be possible to prohibit the return of departed companies to the country. This was stated by State Duma Deputy Nikolai Arefyev on Thursday, May 15.

"We have no criteria for non-return, so in this regard, everything is the will of our government. If they want to, they'll let them come back, no, no. We also have no prohibitive laws against foreign investors, excluding the activities of foreign agents," the parliamentarian said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

According to Arefyev, the most correct solution would be a complete ban on the return of departed brands. He expressed confidence that this would contribute to the development of Russia's own economy and production.

"I don't see the need for the return of foreign firms. We need to take care of our own country, develop our own technologies and productions. A government decree is enough for this," the politician concluded.

Earlier, on May 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that apologies from Western brands alone would not be enough to return to the Russian market, especially in cases where foreign businessmen transferred money to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), RT reports. Putin stressed that the return of foreign companies should be approached pragmatically, taking into account Russia's interests.

The President added that new Russian brands are now appearing in hundreds and even thousands, while the quality of their products is often better than that of foreign competitors.

On May 6, the head of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, Anton Siluanov, announced that the ministry had not yet received applications for return from foreign companies that had left Russia. The minister stressed that, in general, the government is interested in business returning, as the influx of foreign capital will lead to an improvement in the climate and competition in the country. In addition, there were brands that left and left the opportunity to return.

Earlier, on April 29, it became known that foreign investors who left Russia and signed an option (repurchase of shares in the future) with domestic partners may be prohibited from returning shares of the company. The next day, the Financial Times newspaper wrote that foreign companies were turning to lawyers en masse to find out if they could return to the Russian market.
