- Lavrov pointed to Russia's readiness for mutually beneficial economic cooperation with the United States.

Russia is not against mutually beneficial economic cooperation with the United States, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting of the Diplomatic Club "Culture Without Borders: the Role and Development of Cultural Diplomacy" on May 15.
According to him, the American leader Donald Trump is also interested in developing contacts in economics and finance that are beneficial for the two countries.
"The Trump administration, first of all, wants to remove obstacles to mutually beneficial economic cooperation with Russia. We don't mind, but if it's really mutually beneficial and honest," Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister also stressed that under Trump, the American administration had returned to normal.
"At least the current administration has returned to normality, when, no matter what contradictions you have, politicians and diplomats are all the more obliged to talk," Lavrov concluded.
In April, Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that American companies would like to occupy the niches in the Russian market that European brands have vacated. According to him, Russia will control that the US business on its territory is located for the benefit of the state itself.
