In the Netherlands, residents in Leiden were evacuated due to a biogas leak.


A biogas leak occurred in the Dutch city of Leiden, and it was decided to evacuate residents of nearby homes and campgrounds, the Omroep West broadcasting company reported on May 15.
The incident occurred in the early morning at the municipal water treatment plant of the Water Resources Management. Currently, as a precautionary measure, streets have been closed in the area of the accident and vessel traffic has been stopped. The fire services called on residents who remained at the scene to keep windows and doors closed, as well as turn off ventilation.
"Emergency services have declared GRIP level 2. Emergency services, including the fire brigade, ambulance and police, went to the scene. A special fire brigade was also called to combat dangerous substances," the media reported.
At about 12:00 (13:00 Moscow time), the fire brigade reported that the leak from the safety valve had been stopped. An hour later, it was announced that the danger was over.
On April 14, the French BFMTV channel reported that a worker was killed in Paris due to a nitrogen leak in a gym in the 11th arrondissement, and a visitor was also hospitalized. It was clarified that the victim was an employee of the institution born in 1996. A visitor born in 2001 also needed hospitalization. The police launched an investigation jointly with the labor Inspectorate.
