The Spanish city was covered by smog after a fire at a chemical plant

The Spanish city of Alcala de Guadalajara in the province of Seville was covered with smog after a fire at the warehouse of the Plainsur chemical company in the La Red industrial area. This was reported on May 15 by the newspaper Diario de Sevilla, citing local emergency services.
"The fire has led to the formation of a huge column of smoke, which is visible throughout Seville in many cities and on its outskirts. Firefighters are involved in localizing the fire in this area," the newspaper said in a statement.
The fire occurred at the factory, in the place where the solvents are stored. The workers tried to put out the fire on their own, but they were later evacuated.
It is specified that two people were slightly injured: one of them is a worker who suffered burns, and the other is a firefighter who was poisoned by smoke.
The administration asks residents not to open windows and not to go outside. In total, about 77 thousand people live in the city.
Earlier, on May 14, CTV reported the deaths of two people in the Canadian province of Manitoba due to wildfires. It is specified that currently there are 24 forest fires in the province, and their total area is 103 thousand hectares.
