On May 15, the Second Western District Military Court sentenced Sergey Veselov, a resident of Elektrostal, who joined the Freedom of Russia Legion, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation, to 13 years in prison.

"Veselov should be sentenced to 13 years in prison, three of them in prison, and the rest in a high—security colony," RIA Novosti quoted the judge's decision.

In addition, he is also prohibited from creating pages on the Internet for a period of three years.

The verdict was passed in accordance with Articles 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization"), Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code ("Public dissemination for political and ideological reasons of deliberately false information about the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation"), Article 214 of the Criminal Code ("Vandalism").

According to the investigation, the man joined the Telegram channel of the terrorist organization in December 2023, for this he needed to fill out a questionnaire. Subsequently, he began to communicate with the curator. Later, Veselov, according to the instructions, put an inscription condemning the special operation and discrediting the Russian army near a public transport stop.

The accused partially admitted his guilt.
