A bas-relief with Stalin was returned to the Taganskaya metro station in Moscow.


A recreated bas-relief depicting the head of the USSR, Joseph Stalin, was returned to the Taganskaya station of the Moscow metro. The opening is timed to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the Moscow metro, the anniversary is celebrated on May 15.
The historical bas-relief "Gratitude of the people to the leader-commander" will be located in the passage between the stations of the Koltsevaya and Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya lines. It is dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the composition depicts Stalin surrounded by people on Red Square.
According to the press service of the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the capital, until 1966, the bas-relief was located at the end of the Taganskaya Ring Line, but it was lost during the construction of a transfer to another metro line.
Experts recreated the composition from archival photographs and documents, the department's Telegram channel noted.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 13 that cultural heritage and creative wealth are a powerful foundation for the consolidation of Russian society. He stressed that the support of various cultural projects is a great contribution to strengthening the unity of Russia.
