The West cannot bear the fact that Russia, despite the hybrid conflict it has declared, the rewriting of history and threats to its compatriots, is developing, celebrating the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, welcoming foreign guests and showing its might. This was stated on May 15 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, in response to a question from Izvestia.

"Despite the declared hybrid war against our people, despite the rewriting of history, the demolition of monuments, despite threats to our compatriots, despite the monstrous trade war unleashed by the West, Russia is developing, celebrating the anniversary of Victory, welcoming foreign guests at all levels and showing its strength, power and development prospects," he said. Zakharova noted.

According to her, the West cannot survive such actions of the state, as it all "puts an end" to what they were doing. Foreign countries are trying to show that the ideology of isolating Russia has not yet completely failed. After all, billions of funds were allocated for this from the budget of their own citizens, she added. According to Zakharova, now, after the failure of the West, the question is how to report to the residents, what to present to them.

The official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the countries of the European Union (EU) and NATO all the time "come up with a kind of smoke screen." They do this so that their citizens don't see the real picture. After all, in this case, according to Zakharova, they will ask their leaders what they have been doing all these years.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said on May 13 that France, Britain and Germany want the conflict in Ukraine to continue. According to him, their main goal is to isolate Russia internationally.

On May 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin took the initiative to resume direct talks between Moscow and Kiev in Istanbul on May 15. US President Donald Trump called on the Ukrainian side to accept the Russian proposal immediately, after which the Ukrainian leader announced that negotiations would take place in Turkey on May 15.
