Nuclear safety in the territory of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) remains unstable. This was announced on May 15 by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.

"Throughout the conflict, external energy has been the main Achilles heel of nuclear safety at the Zaporizhia NPP. Unfortunately, the situation in this regard has not improved," he was quoted as saying on the organization's official website.

According to Grossi, the agency's employees have heard explosions every day for the past week, which sounded near the nuclear power plant. He also noted that cooperation with Russia and Ukraine is currently continuing, as it is necessary to organize a new rotation of IAEA experts at the NPP, which had previously been postponed due to the complication of the situation at the plant.

Earlier, on May 7, the Ferroalloy-1 high-voltage line, which provided the station's needs, was turned off at the NPP by protection. At the same time, no violations of safety conditions were recorded. In addition, it was clarified that the nuclear power plant's own needs are powered by the 750 kV Dneprovskaya line.
