An integrated approach to plant protection from pests and diseases will help preserve crops and avoid many problems in the garden area. As explained by the expert of the online hypermarket "All Tools.Maxim Sokolov, in an interview with Izvestia on May 15, said preventive measures are much more effective than combating existing pests or diseases.

"The best strategy for a summer resident is not to wait for problems to appear, but to prevent them. First of all, you need to choose high-quality planting material. Many summer residents are already turning to reliable suppliers who have time-tested seeds and seedlings. But it is still useful to additionally inspect the plants before planting — there should be no suspicious spots, plaque or larvae on the leaves and roots," Sokolov suggested.

According to him, spring soil preparation plays an equally important role in prevention. Loosening the ground, harvesting plant debris and, if necessary, disinfection with sulfur pellets or biological products will help create unfavorable conditions for the development of diseases and the reproduction of pests. The expert also drew attention to the need to observe crop rotation — the constant cultivation of the same crops in one place depletes the soil and increases the risk of infection with diseases and pests characteristic of these plants.

Regular cleaning of the site is another important element of plant protection. Weeds, fallen leaves and withered stems often become a refuge for pests, so their timely removal significantly reduces the risk of infection. Do not forget about disinfection of garden tools, especially if signs of diseases have been noticed on the site.

Sokolov recommends using insecticides and fungicides, both chemical and biological, for early spring treatment. And agrofibre and special nets are perfect for protection from insects and birds. These materials provide the necessary ventilation and light transmission, while creating a reliable barrier to pests.

Earlier on May 15, Sokolov told Izvestia which fertilizers would improve yields. According to him, one of the most affordable ways to improve the soil is to use compost. This natural fertilizer can be made with your own hands from what usually goes into the trash: food waste, grass, leaves, twigs, eggshells.
