Three people were detained in Podolsk for kidnapping and extortion of 5 million rubles.

Three people suspected of abducting an acquaintance and extorting 5 million rubles from him were detained in Podolsk. On May 15, the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Moscow region was informed about this.

"It was established that on May 14, 2025, <...> the suspects, while in Podolsk on Bolshaya Serpukhovskaya Street near the house, approached a local resident they had previously known and, against his will, placed a man in a car, handcuffed his hands and demanded the transfer of 5 million rubles," the statement said. Subsequently, the defendants hit the man on the head and took him to a wooded area, where they began to threaten and demonstrate a pistol. After a while, the victim managed to open the door of the car in which he was being held and escape. After that, he headed towards the highway, along which law enforcement officers were passing.

A criminal case was opened into the incident. The investigators also conducted an inspection of the scene and seized an air pistol. At the moment, law enforcement agencies are conducting interrogations.
