- The Russian Foreign Ministry noted the EU's commitment to the continuation of hostilities in Ukraine
European countries are determined to continue fighting and escalate the conflict in Ukraine. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced this at a briefing on May 15.
She pointed to the plans of the European Union (EU) for the supply of weapons to the Ukrainian side and the allocation of new aid packages to Kiev.
"All this is a convincing confirmation of the European Union's desire not only to continue the fighting, but also, as I said, to escalate it. In Brussels, they spare no expense for this," Zakharova said.
As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized, referring to data published in the EU, the total amount of financing for the Kiev regime from the association since February 2022 is estimated at 147 billion euros, of which 50 billion euros went to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjarto said on May 13 that in recent years the EU has constantly made wrong decisions that led to the prolongation of the conflict, the supply of weapons and the direction of cash flows to Ukraine.
Earlier, on May 6, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the West's continued supply of weapons to Ukraine was delaying prospects for a settlement of the conflict. Such actions, on the contrary, lead to escalation, she stressed.
