The third International Contemporary Art Fair RAF opens in St. Petersburg today, May 15. 87 artists from South Africa, Georgia, Thailand, Germany and Russia will present their works in the Sevkabel Port space. The exhibition will feature paintings from 34 galleries.
According to the 78 TV channel, with reference to the deputy general director of Sevkabel Port, Valentina Antyushina, the RAF is an important part of the ecosystem aimed at supporting contemporary art. The fair shows a variety of trends from gallery projects to experimental formats and from digital to public art.
The exhibition will run until May 18. Among the participants of the fair are graduates of the largest Russian and foreign schools of contemporary art. The works will be presented by the Rodchenko School, the Repin Academy of Fine Arts, the British Graduate School of Design, the London University of the Arts, the Buckstein Institute, the Stieglitz Academy, and the Central College of Art and Design named after St. Martin.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters that cultural heritage and creative wealth are the foundation for the consolidation of Russian society. Addressing the council members, he stressed that the support of various cultural projects is a great contribution to strengthening the unity of Russia.
