The US Department of Justice, contrary to the decision of a federal judge, again insists on the deportation of Russian scientist Ksenia Petrova, who was arrested on charges of transporting undeclared frog embryos. This was reported by ABC News on Thursday, May 15.

"No matter how tightly the government wants to control immigration control, it must follow the law <...> The cancellation of Ksenia's visa was based on her alleged violation of customs regulations. The law does not allow this," said Petrova's lawyer Grigory Romanovsky.

The TV channel stressed that the court did not satisfy the Ministry of Justice's request to deport the scientist to Russia and did not find any reasons for this decision.

In April, Bloomberg reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump refused to release Petrova. As indicated, the country's authorities refused to grant the Russian scientist parole because they considered that she posed a security threat to the United States.
