Online sales volume has halved due to Internet disruptions

The volume of sales in online commerce has halved due to Internet outages last week. ATOL analysts, who conducted a study based on anonymized sales data, told Izvestia about this on Thursday, May 15.
"In the week from May 5 to May 11, the amount of sales in online commerce decreased by half compared to the previous week. The volume of online sales in the main categories amounted to about 11.1 billion. At the same time, the number of cheques dropped 2.3 times immediately compared to April 28 — May 4," the study says.
The largest drop in sales was recorded in the Footwear category, which decreased 2.5 times. There was also a significant change in the categories of "Shoes" — 2.4 times, "Electronics", "Home and Garden", "Beauty and Hygiene" — 2.3 times each.
Earlier, on May 5, there were disruptions in the operation of mobile communications and the Internet for T2, MTS and Beeline operators. Beeline had the largest number of complaints — more than 3.1 thousand and MTS — more than 2.1 thousand. In addition, failures were found in the work of banking applications, including Alfa-Bank and VTB.
