The crew of a tank of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed the AFU command post in the Red Army area

The crew of the T-72B3 tank of the Center group of forces destroyed the command post of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Red Army area. This was announced on Thursday, May 15, by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

"The tankers, using the terrain features, covertly took up a firing position and with accurate shots destroyed a camouflaged dugout of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a fortified building used by the enemy as a command post," the military department said in a statement.

It is specified that the tankers used indirect fire tactics during the operation, hitting targets at a distance of up to 10 km with 125-mm high-explosive shells. Thanks to this method, the fire remained out of sight of the APU, which minimized the risk of detection.

Every shell of the crew was accurate. Coordination from the sky was carried out by operators of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) monitoring the positions of Ukrainian military personnel.

"We worked on the approaches and fortifications of the enemy. <...> They supported our infantry with tank fire from closed firing positions. The average distance is from 7 to 10 km. <...> I have been under contract since April 18 last year, that is, I have already been for a year. I served my military service in the 68th Guards Tank Regiment. For patriotic reasons, I have been studying at a cadet school since childhood," said the tank's gunner—operator with the call sign Rean Istomin.

According to the Russian president, conditions have now appeared for further successful actions by our troops in other sectors of the front.

The day before, on May 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that crews of 130-mm towed M-46 howitzers of the tank unit of the Center group of forces destroyed an AFU mortar. It is specified that at first, reconnaissance using a UAV revealed the camouflaged position of a 120-mm mortar of the Ukrainian militants. Then the intelligence was received by the calculation of the M-46 cannon.
