- The Malaysian Prime Minister promised to convey Putin's words to the families of the victims of the MH17 disaster.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has promised to convey the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 to the families of the crash victims. The Russian leader and the Malaysian Prime Minister discussed the decision of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during a meeting in the Kremlin. Ibrahim made the corresponding statement on Wednesday, May 14, following his visit to Moscow.
The Prime Minister said that the head of state expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the tragedy.
"Putin has always been consistent in this," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
In addition, the prime minister said that the President of the Russian Federation denied unwillingness to cooperate.
"However, he does not consider it possible to cooperate with any body that he or Russia does not consider independent," Ibrahim said.
As the Prime Minister pointed out, Putin called for a thorough and honest investigation.
On May 12, the Dutch government announced that ICAO had found Russia responsible for the crash and violation of the 1944 Convention on International Civil Aviation.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced the next day that Russia was not accepting biased conclusions about the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in 2014, as it had not participated in the investigation.
The Boeing 777 airliner operating flight MH17 Amsterdam — Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. 298 people became victims of the disaster. The case of the passenger plane crash was investigated by a joint investigation team led by the Dutch Prosecutor's office without the participation of Russia.
On June 17, 2024, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the Russian Federation was terminating its participation in the dispute with Australia and the Netherlands over the crash of the Boeing 777, which was being considered by the Council of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
