Two officials were detained in the Kursk region on suspicion of corruption.

In the Kursk region, the head of one of the municipalities of the Timsky district and the head of the property relations department of the Tim settlement administration were detained on suspicion of corruption. This was announced on Wednesday, May 14, by the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the region.

The first person involved is suspected of committing a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving a bribe by an official on a large scale"), and the second is suspected of committing crimes under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code ("Receiving a bribe by an official on an especially large scale") and Part 5 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Offering mediation in bribery").

According to the Investigative Committee, an official from the Timsky district in the period from May 2022 to December 2024 received a total of more than 1 million rubles from a local sole proprietor for general patronage when concluding contracts.

"The second suspect, being the head of the municipality in the period from June 2024 to January 2025, received a bribe in the form of property in the amount of more than 65 thousand rubles from an individual entrepreneur for assistance in concluding and executing municipal contracts," the agency said in a Telegram post.

At the moment, all the circumstances of the crimes committed are being established, and evidence is being collected.

The day before, on May 13, the mayor of Novocherkassk, Yuri Lysenko, was detained on suspicion of corruption crimes totaling more than 8 million rubles. His apartment and the city administration building were searched.
