US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is going to seriously reduce the composition and make radical changes to the work of the country's National Security Council. This was announced on Wednesday, May 14, according to NBC News.

"Instead of a large staff working out policy recommendations for the president, the idea is to create a version according to what [US President Donald] prefers. Trump is more top—down when the president gives instructions to the national security adviser, who then directs the staff to carry out these orders," the material says.

The National Security Council, which is managed from the White House, is the main center for coordinating the political process in government agencies, the TV channel said.

When Trump took office, the NSC had 300 employees, and in January they were reduced to about 150. The expected cuts may reduce the staff to 50-60 people, but the final decision has not yet been made.

On May 4, in an interview with NBC News, when asked about a possible successor, Trump said that American Vice President Jay Dee Vance and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio could become him.

In the same interview, the American president announced that he was not going to run for a third term. Trump also added that he does not intend to interfere in the selection of a future successor to the post of head of state.
