The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) fired directly at the positions of UN peacekeepers south of the Lebanese village of Kfar Shuba. This was announced on May 14 by the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

It is indicated that the peacekeepers recorded two shots, while their positions were hit once. It is noted that recently the peacekeeping contingent has repeatedly encountered other examples of "aggressive behavior" by the Israelis.

"UNIFIL is concerned about the recent aggressive actions of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) against UNIFIL personnel and forces near the Blue Line," the UN mission said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to UNIFIL, this attack was the first direct attack on the positions of peacekeepers in Lebanon since November 2024. At that time, the peacekeeping forces reported that four Italian peacekeepers had been wounded as a result of live shells hitting their positions in southern Lebanon. The report notes that "the rockets were probably fired by the Hezbollah movement or groups associated with it." The mission pointed out that the inviolability of UN premises and personnel must always be respected.
