The court extended the arrest of former Sochi mayor Kopaigorodsky until August 17.
The Moscow Meshchansky court extended the measure of restraint in the form of detention of the ex-mayor of Sochi Alexey Kopaygorodsky for three months. This was reported on May 14 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
It is specified that the former mayor will remain in jail until August 17, 2025.
Earlier that day, his wife, Yanina Kopaigorodskaya, was also arrested for the same period. The young children of the spouses were present at the hearing. They have five children in total, the youngest of whom is one year old.
The former head of Sochi was detained on September 25, 2024 in a special operation area. He was arrested on the same day, and the measure of restraint was repeatedly extended.
The wife of the ex-mayor of Sochi was detained in November 2024, placed under house arrest on November 13, and transferred to a pre-trial detention center on March 6, 2025. She is accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Embezzlement or embezzlement").
