- Sobyanin outlined the deadlines for the completion of the reconstruction of the Metallurg stadium

The reconstruction of the historic Metallurg stadium will be completed this year, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
According to him, an infrastructure of a "qualitatively different level" will be created on the territory of the sports facility. A multi-purpose arena with artificial grass and heating will appear on the site of the old football field: it will be possible to play both football and rugby. There will be eight running tracks around the field, and more warm-up and short-distance running tracks will be built on the grandstand side.
There will also be a complex with halls for wrestling, gymnastics and yoga. "A central square will appear — it will become a place for meetings and mass events," Sobyanin added.
In addition, the project includes sports and playgrounds, areas with outdoor exercise equipment and workout complexes.
The Metallurg Stadium was built in the 1920s for the workers of the Hammer and Sickle factory. Later, legends of Soviet sports trained here: track and field athletes, hockey players and football players. Then Metallurg was transferred to Bauman University.
