Prices for new cars in Russia may rise in the fall of 2025. This was stated by Alexey Podshchekoldin, President of the Association of Russian Automobile Dealers (ROAD).

"The discount situation won't last long. It's not just dealers who feel bad. I won't speak for Chinese importers, but Russian automakers are definitely not making money today. You can't work in the negative for a long time. There will be no increase until the warehouses are sold out. But closer to autumn, the volume of supplies and production will be reduced, and prices will rise," Podshchekoldin was quoted as saying on May 14.

According to the head of the ROAD, dealers are now offering discounts on cars. For example, an average Chinese car costs 2.5–3 million rubles, and the discount on it is 5%, which is about 150 thousand rubles. At the same time, while the car is waiting for sale in the warehouse for several months, the dealer has to pay the bank for loan servicing, and in one or two months this amount reaches about 100 thousand rubles.

Podshchekoldin noted that now the buyer has the opportunity to purchase a car at a bargain price, but even with a discount, the car does not become cheap.

The day before, Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, said that sales of new passenger cars by the end of 2025 could decrease by 20% compared to the previous year and reach 1.25 million cars.

On May 7, it became known that by the end of April, 102.1 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 25.5% less than in the same month last year. Haval Jolion became the Russian market leader in the crossover and SUV segment in April.
