The American tobacco company Philip Morris (manufacturer of Marlboro, Bond and Parliament cigarettes) has registered a trademark in Russia. This follows from Rospatent's data, which was reviewed by Izvestia on May 14.

According to the company's card, it has registered the Philip Morris Siesta Mix trademark with an exclusive rights period until 2034. Its copyright holder was a branch of the company in Switzerland — Philip Morris Brand SARL. Tobacco, cigarettes, cigarettes, cigarillos, tobacco substitutes, electronic cigarettes, tobacco products for heating, etc. are among the products that it is going to distribute in Russia.

In early March 2022, against the background of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, the company suspended all investments in the Russian Federation, including the launch of new products.

In the summer of 2022, Philip Morris International CEO Jacek Olczak said in an interview with Bloomberg that the company intends to leave the Russian market by the end of the year. According to the top manager, his structure occupies a significant share there, but still intends to leave the country. He also stated that Russia was an important tobacco market for Philip Morris, which was the seventh largest, and the company's share in it was 27%.

The company's management tried to sell Russian assets until 2023. However, as stated by Olchak, it was not possible to find buyers.
