Russia and Malaysia plan to increase trade in the fields of pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and medical products, and nuclear medicine. On May 14, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told a correspondent of Izvestia following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

He noted that the parties will proceed from what was discussed during the meeting.

"These include oil and gas engineering, shipbuilding, including high—speed hydrofoils, electric vessels - those are the areas that have been affected today. This is, let's say, a foundation that can give additional impetus in the future," Manturov stressed.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation added that the issue of supplies of agricultural products and mineral fertilizers was also raised during the negotiations.

"This is also one of the areas that may have additional growth and development potential," he concluded.

On the same day, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), said that Russian companies were interested in entering the Malaysian market and saw great potential in it. According to him, RDIF works closely with Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Berhad and its portfolio companies, including in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medicine, which want to enter the Russian market.
