NATO countries planned to send troops to the territory of Ukraine at the beginning of the special military operation (SVO). Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the leader of Poland's largest opposition Law and Justice party, told reporters.

"This was not my intention, I just knew what was being done before the conflict began. I knew what the plans were, including from the American side. The peacekeeping mission was supposed to enter the Vinnytsia-Zhytomyr region," the wPolityce portal quoted him as saying.

He stated that the deployment of the NATO contingent was supposed to help Ukraine in conducting military operations, notes "Газета.Ru ".

Earlier in the day, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said the country would not send soldiers to Ukraine. Sikorski also stressed that Warsaw would not change its position, even if other Western countries decided to participate.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on April 24 that the deployment of Western military contingents in Ukraine was unacceptable to Russia. He also noted that this initiative poses a critical threat to the security of the whole of Europe.
