- The Iranian parliament has threatened the IAEA to increase the level of uranium enrichment to 93%

Iran may increase its uranium enrichment level to 93% if the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) continues its anti-Iranian policy. This was reported on May 14 by Iran International TV channel with reference to the statement of the parliament.
"The Islamic Republic does not face any restrictions in the field of nuclear research and development and can start enriching up to 93% based on its scientific, medical and industrial needs," the statement said.
The resolution also clarifies that Iran's rights under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), including nuclear research, development and peaceful use of the atom, are non-negotiable and fully comply with the agency's guarantees.
In addition, the parliament warned that any alleged violation by the UN nuclear regulator of Iran's rights, including the right to enrich uranium to 93%, would provoke a backlash. The legislature also criticized the IAEA for "obstructing the peaceful development of Iran's nuclear energy" for 40 years, as well as for relying on "politically motivated intelligence information," in particular from Israel.
The day before, The New York Times reported that Iran had proposed forming a consortium consisting of Middle Eastern countries to enrich uranium with the involvement of US investments. On May 11, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, presented the relevant plan to the special envoy of the President of the United States, Stephen Witkoff. According to the newspaper, the initiative should serve as an alternative to Washington's demand for a complete curtailment of the Iranian nuclear program.
