- The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund noted the interest of Russian companies in entering the Malaysian market

Russian companies are interested in entering the Malaysian market and see great potential in it. Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), told Izvestia on May 14 following talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
"It's not just about our tourists and travel companies, who will now benefit from the fact that Russian airlines have finally opened access to the Malaysian market. And these are also our technology companies, pharmaceutical and medical companies," he explained.
According to him, RDIF works closely with Malaysia's sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Berhad and its portfolio companies, including in the fields of pharmaceuticals and medicine, which want to enter the Russian market.
"And today it is very important that the Prime Minister [of Malaysia] is very positively focused on cooperation with Russia - he knows our poets, he often quotes them, so this positive attitude will definitely increase both investments and our business interactions," Dmitriev concluded.
Earlier in the day, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, at a meeting with Anwar Ibrahim, suggested that he work out new joint economic projects. He noted that Moscow sees good opportunities for increasing trade, economic and investment cooperation with Kuala Lumpur, referring to energy, as well as industry.
