Russia is negotiating with Malaysia on the supply of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) and on cooperation in the development of the country's gas infrastructure. This was announced on May 14 by the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsivilev.

"We discussed LNG supplies to Malaysia as our proposal, as well as participation in the development of gas infrastructure in Malaysia, namely the receiving infrastructure, pipeline infrastructure, and gas storage facilities," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Tsivilev added that Russia plans to supply about 5 million tons of petroleum products to Malaysia in 2024 and expressed hope for an increase in supplies this year.

The minister also announced Russia's readiness to increase coal exports to Malaysia. According to him, both Russian and Malaysian companies are working in this direction, and this proposal is supported by both sides.

On the same day, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, said that the country plans to strengthen ties with Russia in all areas of activity. He also expressed hope for a constructive dialogue on issues previously raised by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
