Murashko noted a decrease in mortality in regions with alcohol restrictions

Deaths from alcohol-related causes have decreased in regions that have imposed restrictions on its sale. This was announced on May 14 by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko during the forum "The health of the nation is the basis of Russia's prosperity."
According to him, the relevant projects implemented in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) have yielded results in a short period of time. The head of the Ministry of Health noted that 204 villages in the region have legislated a complete ban on the retail sale of alcoholic beverages.
"Alcohol-related deaths decreased by 42% between 2005 and 2023. The number of registered crimes decreased by 50%," Murashko stressed.
He added that by the end of 2023, the mortality rate from alcohol-related cardiomyopathy and other alcohol-related causes decreased in "sober" settlements compared to others.
In early March, State Duma deputy Andrei Svintsov announced that he had submitted a bill banning the sale of alcohol on Sundays. In his message, he noted that the last day of the week should be devoted to spending time with family, playing sports or going to cultural institutions, as well as preparing for the start of the working week.
