In Rostov-on-Don, two policemen were suspected of organizing illegal migration and abuse of official authority. This was reported on May 14 in the press service of the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Rostov region.

Thus, a criminal case was opened against the head of the migration department of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the head of one of the departments of the department under art. 286 ("Abuse of official authority") and art. 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration").

"The defendants, knowing for certain that 18 foreign citizens did not have certificates of proficiency in the Russian language, knowledge of the history and legislation of the Russian Federation at a level appropriate to the purpose of obtaining a work permit, gave illegal instructions to subordinate employees not to revoke previously issued work permits on time and in accordance with the procedure established by law," the statement says. It is noted that in this way the suspects created conditions for the illegal stay of foreigners in the Russian Federation. At the moment, the circumstances of the incident are being established.

On April 8, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, announced the suppression of the channel of illegal legalization of migrants in St. Petersburg. Police officers detained 15 suspects. A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 2 of Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration").
