Patrushev spoke about ensuring the food security of the Russian Federation

Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, held a meeting of the permanent Government Anti-Epizootic Commission. The event was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia, the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Rosselkhoznadzor, Rospotrebnadzor, other relevant departments, as well as representatives of the regions.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task for the agro-industrial complex to significantly increase production volumes by 2030. This applies to all areas of the industry, including, of course, animal husbandry. According to the plans of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, production in the meat sector should increase to almost 20 million tons in 6 years. It is planned that milk volumes will exceed 38 million tons. One of the key factors in achieving these indicators is ensuring epizootic well-being. For this purpose, systematic work is underway at all levels today. In this way, we ensure the food security of our country and increase the export potential of the Russian agro-industrial complex. I would like to note separately that thanks to the activities of the Rosselkhoznadzor, including those related to the active introduction of digital control tools, Russia has established one of the world's best practices in the field of veterinary well—being," said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that although the epizootic situation in the world remains difficult in 2025, the situation in Russia is stable. No outbreaks of African swine fever and avian influenza have been recorded in the industrial sector.
Patrushev stressed that all preventive measures should be carried out locally in full compliance with veterinary safety requirements. The meeting also discussed measures to prevent animal diseases in wild fauna.
Following the event, Patrushev instructed to strengthen measures to prevent the spread of infections in the regions and strengthen control over the movement of animals and products on all types of transport.
Earlier, on April 30, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced at a cabinet meeting the extension of grant support to agricultural enterprises in the border regions of Russia for six months. He clarified that the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions are participating in the programs.
