A new terminal for domestic airlines has opened at Mikhail Lermontov Mineralnye Vody Airport, the press service of Sberbank, which participated in financing the construction, reported. The volume of loans amounted to 8.57 billion rubles.
The terminal was built as part of the "Project Finance Factory". The total volume of capital investments amounted to 15.3 billion rubles, investments of financial partners — 12.24 billion rubles. In addition to Sberbank, VEB RF participated in the financing, providing 3.67 billion rubles. The loan funds are provided for a period of up to 12.5 years.
Sber is significantly investing in Russia's transport infrastructure, from the construction of the Moscow—St. Petersburg high—speed railway to the creation of new airports in different parts of our large country. The development of the transport network plays a key role in the development of tourism and business activity. For us, this is part of a systematic effort to modernize our country's airports. Thanks to the Government and VEB, today we have an effective mechanism for financing important investment projects, and Sberbank actively supports them. With the participation of Sber, air harbors in Murmansk and Gorno-Altaysk are being built and reconstructed, and an air terminal in Magadan has already been launched. Thanks to the new terminal in Mineralnye Vody, flights to the south of Russia will become more comfortable and even more people will be able to visit this beautiful region. Such projects will make traveling in Russia more comfortable and will stimulate the economic development of the regions, which means they will improve the lives of Russians," commented Herman Gref, President and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank.
Mineralnye Vody Airport is a key transport hub in the North Caucasus Federal District. The new terminal has increased the capacity of the airport, which will now be able to accommodate up to four million passengers per year. In addition, the terminal created new jobs for residents of the Stavropol Territory and provided additional development opportunities for other sectors of the region's economy.
