A court in Moscow fined WhatsApp (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) for failing to fulfill its duties as the organizer of the instant messaging service. This was reported on May 14 in the press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"By the decision of the justice of the peace of the judicial district No. 422 of the Tagansky district of Moscow <...>, WhatsApp <...> was [found] guilty of committing an administrative offense," the department's Telegram channel says.

The messenger was found guilty in accordance with Part 1 of Article 13.39 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation. As a result, the court imposed a fine of 800 thousand rubles.

The day before, a court in Moscow fined Discord Inc. 800 thousand rubles for failing to fulfill its duties as an organizer of the instant messaging service.
