In the Trans-Baikal Territory, the area of forest fires has grown to 629 thousand hectares. This was announced on May 14 by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

"According to operational data, 49 forest fires continue to operate in the region. Their area exceeds 629 thousand hectares, of which 14 foci are localized on more than 120 thousand hectares," the Telegram channel says.

In addition, the department added that a forest fire had engulfed 1.2 hectares near the village of Yasny in the Chita region. It is being extinguished by 50 specialists and 11 pieces of equipment, as well as local residents. The fire has now been contained.

A state of emergency has been introduced in three regions.

The day before, it became known that the area of forest fires spread in the Trans-Baikal Territory exceeded 500 thousand hectares. In addition, it was noted that in the Chita municipal district the fire spread to more than 31 thousand hectares. Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to work in the settlements of Sokhodno, Yablonovo, Turgutui.
