- The woman transferred 500 thousand rubles to fraudsters after ordering Ossetian pies
Fraudsters stole 500 thousand rubles from a resident of Khimki near Moscow after she ordered food delivery. This was reported on May 14 by a source of Izvestia.
"On May 11, a woman ordered Ossetian pies on the Internet. On May 13, the scammers on the phone asked her to name the code from the SMS, which she did," the source explained.
Suspecting fraud, the woman checked her credit history, but found nothing. Later, a "public services employee" called her and informed her that 12 banks had received her personal data. Then an "employee of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation" contacted the woman and convinced her that a loan could solve the problem. The victim transferred 500 thousand rubles to the attackers.
An inspection is currently underway.
On April 30, investigators opened a criminal case into the theft of more than 28 million rubles from a 68-year-old Omsk resident. It is noted that during the month the pensioner transferred money to fraudsters. Only the need to apply for a loan made her doubt and contact the police.
