Customs officers stopped the smuggling of cocaine worth 500 million rubles in the port of St. Petersburg

A shipment of cocaine worth 500 million rubles was detained in the port of St. Petersburg. This was announced on May 14 by the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia.

"Baltic Customs officers, together with the Russian Interior Ministry, stopped the smuggling of 50 kg of cocaine. The value of the batch on the black market exceeds 500 million rubles," the FCS Telegram channel says.

It is specified that the vessel with illegal cargo from Latin America arrived in St. Petersburg. During the customs control, the port staff found 50 briquettes of cocaine hidden in the cache of a container with bananas.

A criminal case has been opened on this fact under Part 4 of Article 229.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Drug smuggling"). Life imprisonment is provided for this violation.

On April 14, customs officers at Sheremetyevo Airport stopped the smuggling of 8.6 million rubles worth of gold chains. They tried to export the product to Turkey. According to the detainee, who chose the green corridor, the chain belongs to him. He also said that he did not know how much it cost. A criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Smuggling of strategically important goods").
