Oleg Zavgorodny and Fyodor Trifonov were sentenced to 24 and 17 years in prison, respectively, for attempting to detonate columns of military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on a highway in the Zaporozhye region in 2022. The press service of the Southern District Military Court informed about this on May 15.
According to the investigation, in February 2022, Zavgorodny joined a terrorist community in which he was responsible for the illegal trafficking of explosives. The men were about to detonate a section of road with an improvised explosive device (IED) at the time of the passage of a Russian military convoy. However, the attackers could not fulfill their plan — they were detained by the FSB of Russia.

On the same day, it was reported that a resident of Kiselevsk was detained in the Kemerovo Region for calling for terrorist activities during celebrations dedicated to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The man is accused of committing a crime in accordance with Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities using the Internet").
