In Chuvashia, investigators have opened a criminal case after massive cases of suspected intestinal infection among students of gymnasium No. 8 in the city of Sumerl. This was announced on May 14 by the investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the republic.
"The investigative authorities of the SU TFR in Chuvashia have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules that negligently caused a massive disease"), - stated in the Telegram channel.
The department added that specialists are working at the scene of the incident, who are examining the food store, as well as taking food samples for examination.
The exact cause of the children's illness will be determined after conducting the necessary research.
On May 14, the Ministry of Health of Chuvashia reported that nine gymnasium students in the republic sought medical help with symptoms of intestinal infection. It was noted that eight schoolchildren are receiving outpatient treatment under the supervision of district pediatricians. Upon the incident, the head of the republic, Oleg Nikolaev, ordered an inspection.
