France supplied Ukraine with all the weapons it had in the country and cannot transfer more due to the threat of weakening its own army. This was announced on May 13 by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with TF1 TV channel.

This is how the president commented on criticism about the lack of military support for Ukraine.

"We can't give what we don't have, and we can't pluck our own army. We gave everything we could, tripled production," he said.

The French leader clarified that the country's army is not prepared for a prolonged conflict of "high intensity", as a result of which Paris cannot supply Kiev with more weapons than it has.

According to Macron, France has already handed over several Caesar howitzers to the Ukrainian side, which were intended for other partner countries, but further deliveries cannot be made due to the depletion of Paris' weapons reserves.

In the same interview, Macron said that Ukrainian residents realize that a return to the borders of 2014 is impossible. At the same time, the French leader noted that negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine would contribute to resolving territorial issues.
