The earthquake, whose magnitude reached 6.4, occurred in the area of the Kingdom of Tonga. This was announced on May 14 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

It is specified that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 137 km southwest of the island of Neiafu with a population of about 4 thousand people. The source was located at a depth of 243 km.
