When choosing a psychologist, you need to be guided by reviews, look for specialists within professional organizations or mental health clinics, Yuri Zinchenko, dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Lomonosov Moscow State University, said in an interview with Izvestia.

Experts told how to properly provide assistance in severe conditions.

"In these organizations, there are certain requirements for a psychologist, the key is to have a higher psychological education," he said.

Also, according to him, the type of higher education is important, since you can only complete a bachelor's or master's degree, or you can complete both levels.

"A qualified specialist is someone who has studied for five to six years," Zinchenko stressed.

Now many have completed additional education programs and after that began to consider themselves professional psychologists, applied for a job in this field, he warned.

The expert also noted that there is currently no federal law that would regulate the provision of psychological assistance and the requirements for who should provide it. But work is underway in this direction.
