Briton Peter Sullivan was wrongly convicted in 1987 of murdering 21-year-old florist Diane Sindall. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on Tuesday, May 13.

"A 68-year-old man who spent 38 years in prison has secured the overturning of a murder conviction in the court of appeal," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, Sindall's van broke down when she was returning home from a shift at the pub, after which the girl went to the gas station. However, Sindall was caught, inflicted multiple injuries incompatible with life, and sexually assaulted.

The investigation concluded that Sullivan had killed her, despite the lawyer's attempts to have the verdict overturned. The man also repeatedly declared his innocence, the media emphasized.

"New tests ordered by the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) showed that Sullivan's DNA was missing from the samples preserved at that time," the newspaper reports.

Now Sullivan intends to dedicate his life to his family and loved ones.

Earlier, on May 3, Sky News reported that 14 teenagers in the UK, including children from 11 to 14 years old, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter of a 14-year-old boy. The child's body was found inside a building near the Fairfield Industrial Park.
