Pharmaceutical expert Irina Ulyanova told how the cream with SPF protection affects the synthesis of vitamin D.

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Tuesday, May 13, the specialist said that research on this topic gives contradictory results. Some experiments indicate a decrease in vitamin D production when using sunscreens, while others claim the opposite.

According to her, the concentration of vitamin D in the body can depend on many factors, including the initial vitamin level before the start of the vacation period.

"Studies show that even when using sunscreen with SPF 15, applied in sufficient quantities to prevent burns, the concentration of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 in the blood serum increases," Ulyanova noted.

That is, in real conditions, the use of sunscreens does not reduce vitamin D levels. She emphasized that the wise use of broad—spectrum sunscreens is the key to protecting against sunburn without reducing vitamin D levels in healthy people.

Earlier on May 13, cosmetologist Natalia Ryabinova said that the choice of a suitable cream or spray depends on the skin type. For the first and second phototypes with fair skin, you should choose a product with a protection factor of SPF 50+, writes RT. The third and fourth phototypes are characterized by medium swarthiness, they are suitable for products with SPF 30-50, notes 360.ru .

In April, endocrinologist Aminat Gappoeva spoke about the dangers of vitamin D deficiency in the body. According to her, in this case there is a risk of developing osteoporosis.

Earlier, dermatologist and cosmetologist Tatiana Egorova, in an interview with NSN, warned that retinoids, metronidazole, as well as many antidepressants increase skin sensitivity to solar radiation. She stressed that when going out in the sun, you should definitely use SPF 50+ creams.

Dermatologists still recommend applying SPF protection under makeup so as not to create discomfort, the website reports. kp.ru .
