Israel attacked the town of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, targeting the head of the Hamas military wing, Mohammed Sinwar. This was reported on May 13 in the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

"The Israel Defense Forces delivered an accurate strike against Hamas terrorists in the command and control center located in an underground terrorist infrastructure facility under the European Hospital in Khan Yunis," the IDF wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the Kan radio station, the leader of the military wing of the Hamas organization was in an underground facility that was attacked under a European hospital.

It is noted that it is unknown whether the operation led to his death, but other senior members of the organization were present at the scene.

"Before and during the strike, numerous steps were taken to reduce the risk of harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure, including the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence," the IDF added.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the country's army would enter the Gaza Strip in the coming days to completely defeat the radical Palestinian movement Hamas. According to him, the fighting will not stop until the goal is achieved. Even if the Palestinian movement releases 10 hostages, the Israeli side will not stop, the Prime Minister stressed.
